York man flees traffic stop with two children inside SUV, sheriff’s office says
A York man accused of fleeing a traffic stop with children inside his vehicle was arrested Saturday. A York man, 36-year-old Randy Kermoade, has been arrested for allegedly fleeing a traffic stop with children inside his SUV. The York County Sheriff's Office initiated a pursuit after a sergeant attempted to pull over an SUV for multiple traffic violations. The driver continued southbound on North Division Avenue before coming to a stop near West 7th Street and North Lincoln Avenue. During the arrest, the sheriff's office found two children in the backseat, but both were reportedly unharmed. One child was returned to a parent and the other was placed in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services' custody.

YORK, Neb. (KOLN) - A York man accused of fleeing a traffic stop with children inside his vehicle was arrested Saturday.
A sergeant with the York County Sheriff’s Office attempted to pull over the driver of an SUV near the intersection of West 22nd Street and North Division Avenue at 11 p.m. for multiple traffic violations. However, the sheriff’s office said the driver didn’t stop and a pursuit was initiated.
The sheriff’s office said the SUV driver continued southbound on North Division Avenue and later finally came to a stop near West 7th Street and North Lincoln Avenue.
The driver, later identified as 36-year-old Randy Kermoade was taken into custody without further incident.
During the arrest, the sheriff’s office said they found two children in the backseat. It was later determined that neither child was wearing a seatbelt during the pursuit, but both were okay.
Sgt. Taylor Samek said one child was returned to a parent and the other child was placed in Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services’ custody.
Kermoade was jailed on the following charges: child abuse, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, no proof of insurance, driving under suspension, willful reckless driving, vehicle lighting violation, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, seatbelt violation, stop sign violation, driving left of center, failure to signal and speeding.
