Omaha Town Hall Meeting highlights local concerns

Mayor Ewing Jr. discussed the city's progress on addressing key issues like public safety, economic development, affordable housing and infrastructure. Omaha Mayor John W. Ewing Jr. hosted his first town hall meeting of the year, inviting people from across the city to voice their concerns and share ideas. The topic of the meeting was particularly discussed was keeping young people, particularly those right out of high school and college, in Omaha after graduation. Ewings highlighted efforts to keep young people in Omaha through bringing in large companies like Union Pacific, HDR and Kiewit Construction, believing these will boost the economy and provide jobs. However, small local business owner, Depree Seavers, argued that the city should focus on businesses already in Omaha first. Ew emphasized that there are already efforts in place to help local businesses grow while still bringing in larger companies. The next town hall will be Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
