Man arrested after stealing bakery box truck at Russ’s Market, Lincoln Police say

A man was arrested after a Lincoln bakery’s box truck was stolen from a grocery store’s loading dock. Giovani Corbino, 37, was arrested on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking $5,000+ after a bakery's box truck was stolen from a grocery store's loading dock in Lincoln. The truck was left unlocked with its keys inside and then stolen from the store’s loading dock. Police followed the stolen box truck through GPS tracking and found Corbinos sleeping inside it. The box truck and its baked goods were recovered, valued at $33,500. Corbini was also cited for DUI, possession of marijuana, and driving under revocation.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A man was arrested after a Lincoln bakery’s box truck was stolen from a grocery store’s loading dock.

Giovani Corbino, 37, was arrested on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking $5,000+ on Tuesday.

On Tuesday just before 10 a.m., officers were called to the Russ’s Market at 17th and Washington streets. A delivery driver for Flowers Baking Company reported a stolen box truck.

Lincoln Police said the truck had been left unlocked with its keys inside during a delivery. The box truck was then stolen from the store’s loading dock.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage and saw a man entering the truck before driving off. The man would later be identified as Corbino, police said.

The box truck was equipped with GPS tracking, and police followed it to 20th and J streets. The box truck had been parked, and Corbino was sleeping inside of it, according to LPD.

The truck and its baked goods were valued at $33,500, all of which were recovered.

Corbino was lodged on suspicion of theft, and police cited and released him for DUI, possession of marijuana and driving under revocation.
