You can get beer at the ballpark. But where do you go when the game’s over? Some suggestions:
This is the home of the famous Jello Shot Challenge, won in a landslide last year by Louisiana State University fans. Followers of each participating team buy Jello shots for $5 and the fan base that spends the most money wins. A portion of the proceeds goes to the food bank in the winning team’s city and the Food Bank for the Heartland in Omaha. And the bar — with lots of TVs — is right next to the stadium. If those aren’t good enough reasons to visit Rocco’s, what would be?

This is another craft beer purveyor, with a tasting room and patio where you can get snacks to eat in or take out. It’s also a distillery, selling whiskey, gin, bourbon, rye and rum. If your team has a day off, you can book a tour and tasting. Popular Brickway brews include coffee vanilla stout and pre-prohibition style lager.

This is a classic sports bar, where everything is oversized: big TVs showing lots of big games, an ample menu, a “huge beer selection” (according to its website) and a wall-sized HD golf simulator. There are several locations in the Omaha area, but this is the closest to the ballpark. All are locally owned.

I cheated on the perimeters to include this retro establishment (at 1.9 miles, it's a long-ish walk) because it’s fun and it’s in Little Bohemia, an interesting Omaha neighborhood. It serves boozy slushies and ice cream drinks along with craft cocktails, old-school beer (think Old Style in cans) and wine. The food is nostalgic, too: Try their take on a fried bologna sandwich.
